BELFOR Hawaii is also an integral part of BELFOR’s worldwide operations, providing key response across the Hawaiian islands, the entire Pacific region, and across the nation and world when needed. Hawaii teams have responded to large jobs for many local properties and institutions including the Hamilton Library, the PBS Station, Kona Village, the University of Hawaii, and the 2011 Tsunami on the Big Island. BELFOR Hawaii has also aided with the cleanup of widespread disasters such as West Coast Wildfires, the Tsunami in Samoa, and Hurricane “Superstorm Sandy” on the East Coast of the United States.
BELFOR’s Hawaii team has performed many notable and celebrated restoration projects on the islands, and has received recognition and many prestigious awards:
BELFOR performed cleanup and document restoration for the Hamilton Library in the aftermath of a flash flood that damaged thousands of aerial pictures and rare maps. Some of the maps were 400 years old. The Hamilton Library displayed a placard that reads, "Staff at BELFOR’s Fort Worth facility were valued partners in the Library’s recovery effort. They treated tens of thousands of maps and aerial photographs. The Preservation Department continues to rely on BELFOR as an important partner in responding to disasters relating to cultural heritage materials."
BELFOR Hawaii has made the Top Ten in mitigation for the Contractor Connection Western District, which consists of contractors throughout the states of Alaska, Hawaii, California and Nevada. The Hawaii office is recognized for contacting clients quickly, sending fast-response crews, filling out and filing the appropriate paperwork, and efficiently completing assignments.
BELFOR Hawaii participates in local organizations, such as BOMA and IREM (Institute of Realty Management), and has supported the Ronald McDonald House and other great causes. When BELFOR Hawaii was contacted by one of the leaders of a local church youth group asking for donations for the flood-drenched island nation of Fiji, BELFOR contributed boxes and packing materials as well as clothing, first aid supplies, toiletries and other nonperishable items. Tropical storms and severe flooding had left thousands of people on the South Pacific island homeless and without basic necessities. The Fiji Flood Drive was a rousing success; more than 50 boxes of items were packed and shipped to the Islands.
