The Challenge

On 7 September 2024, Typhoon Yagi struck Hai Phong City, Vietnam with severe wind and heavy rainfall, causing widespread disruption. Wayne Vietnam, a major textile manufacturing facility, was directly impacted. The typhoon damaged the factory’s roof, allowing rainwater to enter and affect vital operations. Power was lost, and approximately 100 knitting and embroidery machines were exposed to moisture, putting the business at serious risk of prolonged downtime and financial losses.

The Response

Wayne Vietnam immediately engaged BELFOR, the global leader in disaster recovery, to assess the damage and carry out emergency restoration. BELFOR’s Vietnam response team was deployed on-site within hours.

  • Special drying equipment was quickly mobilized to dry Electrical cabinets, allowing power to be safely restored in a short period of time.
  • BELFOR conducted thorough on-site decontamination of over 100 knitting and embroidery machines, avoiding the need for costly replacements.
  • With fast mobilization and expertise, BELFOR helped minimize the lead time typically required for equipment recovery and ensured business continuity was restored as quickly as possible.

The Results

Power was swiftly restored through rapid dehumidification efforts, preventing further deterioration of electrical systems. Critical knitting and embroidery machinery was successfully recovered through thorough on-site decontamination, eliminating the need for costly replacements. The recovery was completed within just 1.5 months, well ahead of the expectations of Mr. Muneha Hiroshi, General Director, allowing the business to resume operations in a remarkably short time. Downtime was significantly reduced and Mr. Hiroshi personally commended the team for their efficiency and professionalism, expressing strong satisfaction with the overall outcome.
