BELFOR Supports Children’s Hospital
BELFOR Sacramento was honored to join the Color the Skies Foundation to help deliver a $25,000 check to the
Children’s Hospital Central California. The Sacramento office has been a proud participant and sponsor of Color the Skies,
a hot air balloon and kite festival, for the last seven years.
Project Manager George Halpin, from BELFOR Sacramento, has been the official Kite Show Director at the annual Hot Air
Balloon & Kite Festival for eight years. Color the Skies takes a high portion of the Hot Air Balloon & Kite Festival net proceeds
and donates it to the Children’s Hospital each year. More information about the event is at colortheskies.com.
Children’s Hospital Central California is a not-for-profit, state-of-the-art children’s hospital whose physicians perform more
than 11,000 pediatric surgeries a year. Their pediatric and neonatal intensive care units have some of the lowest mortality
rates in the country and the hospital is one of fewer than 10 pediatric intensive care units in the nation to receive the
Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.
BELFOR Sacramento Repairs Gallo Center
In June, the staff from the Gallo Center of the Arts arrived to find the facility affected by a
major water event that damaged walls, ceilings, floors, and furniture. The county contacted BELFOR Sacramento
to begin selective demolition, cleaning and mitigation. BELFOR Project Manager George Halpin and his team
worked around-the-clock, 24/7, to complete the mitigation so repairs could begin as soon as possible.
BELFOR is currently in the process of completing the reconstruction portion of the project and the Gallo Center of Arts is already open for business.
Excerpt from the Modesto Bee, Sacramento CA, June 26, 2014:
Repairs from extensive water damage got underway this week at the Gallo Center for the Arts, and officials plan
to have the venue back to as good as new by the end of August.
“While I’m impatient by nature, I’m very pleased with the progress,” said Gallo Center CEO Lynn Dickerson. “The
project has been handled very well by the county and BELFOR. It’s impressive to see how much has been done
and how tidy they are in a very messy job.”
BELFOR Restores Historic Mansion
BELFOR Sacramento has restored the historic, fire-ravaged McHenry Mansion. The Modesto landmark is the only surviving original Victorian home in the city. Built in 1883, the historic house is not only a local treasure but also a popular destination for tours and catered functions.
During one phase of the exterior work, moldings were carefully removed and salvaged for reproduction. It was a slow, painstaking process. The reproduced woodwork had to be cut, tooled and replaced to look like the pieces originally installed in the late 1800’s.
BELFOR Helps Showcase Library Supply Pod
For Sacramento Area Disaster Response Network
BELFOR participated in an event for the Sacramento Area Disaster Response Network (SADRN) at Rancho Cordova Library on May 4. More than 30 library and museum representatives gathered to see a disaster supply pod stocked with boxes, cleaning supplies, power cords and other emergency supplies. The supply pod will be kept at the Rancho Cordova Library. Area libraries and museums will be able to share the pod supplies as needed.
Presentations and demonstrations were also given by UC Davis, California State Archives and BELFOR Property Restoration.
BELFOR Helps to Re-open the Galleria Mall in Time for Christmas Shoppers
On October 21, 2010, an arson fire caused an estimated $55 million in damages to the area's largest shopping mall, the Westfield Galleria in Roseville, California. BELFOR was on site before the fire even broke through the room and immediately began mitigation and restoration procedures. With hundreds of technicians working around the clock, the Galleria was able to reopen 130 stores by Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, far exceeding expectations of the mall management company.
