Employee Spotlight: Jimong Seo

Jimong Seo, the Country Manager at BELFOR Korea, began his career as a construction professional before transitioning into a leadership role in disaster recovery. He leverages his extensive experience in construction to effectively lead the disaster recovery business. His journey from managing a small group of employees to leading a big team, provides valuable insights for professionals looking for meaningful career opportunities where they can truly make a difference.

What attracted you to join BELFOR and take on the Country Manager role?

After working for over 20 years in the construction industry, I wanted to take on a new challenge that not only builds structures but restores people’s lives and communities. The concept of disaster recovery — being there for people in their most difficult moments and helping them rebuild — deeply resonated with me. I saw BELFOR as a company where my experience could make a meaningful difference, and the opportunity to lead and grow a business with such a mission was too valuable to pass up.

What have been your biggest learning moments since joining BELFOR Korea?

The biggest opportunity has been building a business almost from the ground up. When I joined in 2019, we were a small team of less than 10 people, and growing the company to nearly 50 employees while expanding our market presence has taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and people-centered leadership. Through various crises and recovery projects, I’ve also learned how vital empathy, as well as quick and decisive action, are in this industry.

What has been your proudest achievement leading the team in Korea?

I am most proud of how our team has grown — not only in numbers but in capability, confidence, and unity. Watching our employees develop into leaders, experts, and trusted partners to our clients has been incredibly rewarding. The strong, value-driven culture we’ve built together and the remarkable business growth we’ve achieved over the past six years are accomplishments that reflect the collective spirit of BELFOR Korea.

How do you cultivate a strong culture and sense of purpose among your team?

I believe culture starts with clear values and consistent actions. At BELFOR Korea, we emphasise responsibility, empathy, and teamwork, ensuring that everyone understands the greater purpose behind our work — to help people recover from disaster and return to normal life. We actively recognise individual contributions, celebrate successes together, and foster an environment where every team member feels valued and empowered to make decisions in critical moments.

What makes BELFOR a rewarding place for professionals looking to make an impact?

BELFOR offers a rare opportunity to see the direct, meaningful results of your work. In this industry, every project isn’t just about restoring buildings — it’s about helping people get their lives back on track. For professionals who want to challenge themselves, contribute to something bigger than a job, and grow both personally and professionally, BELFOR is a place where you can truly make an impact and find lasting fulfilment.
