Fire Damage

A fire can swiftly bring a company's operations to a sudden halt, affecting the business and its customers. The first 24 to 48 hours after a fire incident are critical for recovery. An effective emergency response that quickly stabilizes the facility ensures the recovery of as much as property as possible.

The acidic soot and smoke damage that is often produced when fires are extinguished accelerates the deterioration and corrosion of building components and vital assets. To compound the problem, fires are most frequently extinguished with dry chemicals or water. The soot contamination on exposed metallic surfaces can cause corrosion of equipment.

Fire Damage Restoration

The fire damage restoration process includes mitigating damage, providing fire damage cleanup as quickly as possible after the damage first occurs.

  1. Damage Assessment
Our specialists with many years of recovery experience can provide a rapid assessment on the extent of damage and how extensive the fire cleanup will be as well as assessing which machines and equipment can be recovered.

  2. Loss Mitigation
Damage to equipment and machinery does not stop when the disaster incident stops. In fact, most of the damage to equipment, machinery and building contents which were not in direct contact with the fire occurs after the fire incident due to the onset of corrosion.

An effective response during the first 24-48 hours can make the difference between a rapid effective recovery or a total loss. We can help you "buy time" and give you some breathing room to make your choices.

We can stop the corrosion process by performing loss mitigation measures to stabilise the environmental condition, using specialist equipment to control humidity levels, pre-cleaning and applying preservation chemicals to protect surfaces from corrosion.

  3. Fire Damage Restoration
With over 25 years in Asia, BELFOR are experts in the field of specialist cleaning and decontamination. We understand what is possible and just how to achieve the most effective results, returning you back to normal as quickly as possible.

We use specially formulated chemicals to decontaminate the properties. In addition to BELFOR chemicals, we have a suite of solutions to cater to different situations and needs.

  • Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical Equipment Restoration
We use high pressure aqueous cleaning processes to decontaminate industrial equipment, which are completely dismantled, decontaminated and re-built. This helps to restore damage electronic assess which may otherwise be written off.

Machine parts which had rusted were cleaned and completely de-rusted using our 5 stage Ultrasonic Cleaning. Ultrasonic cleaning uses high frequency pressure waves in high temperature specialist cleaning fluids to produce a very effective and time efficient cleaning and decontamination, especially on complete mechanical structures.

  • Building Decontamination
Our specialists will clean and restore building structure surfaces and content items, depending on the degree of damage. Interiors such as damaged walls, windows and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) systems will be cleaned, repaired or replaced, depending on the extent of the damage. We have various techniques for building cleanup. Besides high pressure cleaning, we have other options, including Soot Removal Film. Soot Removal Film is an environmentally friendly, high performance cleaning method. Soot Removal Film is applied on the walls and removed after it dried.

Fire Incident Checklist

After a fire incident, what can you do after calling the fire department and your insurers?

  • Due to the hot gases, smoke and high temperatures fire produce, there is a need to ventilate the property by opening the windows and external doors to allow smoke and heat to dissipate.
  • There is likely to be some water damage due to the use of fire extinguishers and fire hoses. Remove all the wet materials and objects (furniture, curtains, carpets, etc.)
  • Prevent soot from being carried to non-affected areas by sealing off the damage areas, setting up screens and placing damp cloths or mats in doorways and corridors.
  • Switch off electrical/ electronic systems and secure them against being connected.
  • Switch off all machinery and production lines.

Switch off air-conditioning systems and shut off gas and compressed air supplies.
