RESPONSIBLY INTO THE FUTURE WITH BELFOR EUROPE

Sustainability is in our DNA

As the world’s largest restoration and reinstatement company, BELFOR is committed not only to making buildings and machines usable again after damage but also to preserving the basis of life for future generations. Our business model is fundamentally sustainable, as restoration is typically more resource-efficient than new purchases or construction. However, we aim to go beyond this by minimising environmental impact in our repair processes.

More Information

Good today – even better tomorrow

The EU Green Deal and the requirements of the CSRD reporting set clear frameworks for a climate-neutral and transparent economy. We align our goals with these principles: our long-term aim is to become CO₂-neutral. To achieve this, we are currently recording our total annual emissions in detail. These figures form the basis for setting and achieving significantly lower emission targets in the years to come, while making our progress transparent and traceable.

On the right track – on site …

In our operations, we strive to reduce our environmental impact. This begins with using the most energy-efficient dryers and extends to employing environmentally friendly sanitising agents. For instance, the BELFOR 360° DamageScan technology minimises the need for repeated site visits, thereby reducing energy consumption and our carbon footprint.

… and in-house

We are also driving the transition to greater sustainability at our locations and in our internal processes. Flexible working and the use of digital tools already reduce CO₂ emissions at BELFOR today – for example, by eliminating travel or saving paper. Our next step is the gradual electrification of our fleet. The BELFOR branches in Scandinavia are leading the way, already operating with many electric vehicles on the path to CO₂ neutrality.

Here are just a few examples:

Water treatment

With BELFOR’s water treatment process, contaminated water from fire damage is captured directly on-site, treated, and reused multiple times. This significantly reduces the need for fresh water. A large proportion of the treated water can then be safely discharged into the sewer system, returning it to the natural water cycle. This reduces transport distances, energy-intensive incineration, and CO₂ emissions.

CO₂ calculator

The BELFOR CO₂ Calculator makes the climate benefit of repairing versus replacing instantly visible. Based on real damage cases and recognized literature values according to DIN EN ISO 14040 ff., the global warming potential (GWP) of both options is calculated – a clear, measurable contribution to emission reduction.

360° Damage Scan

The BELFOR 360° Damage Scan creates a virtual twin of the damage in just minutes – in high-resolution 4K quality, fully navigable and available anytime. Precise floor plans, automatic media output, and contactless assessment eliminate unnecessary trips, saving emissions. Documentation and progress tracking become faster, easier, and more resource-efficient.

DRYsmart®

With BELFOR DRYsmart®, water damage drying becomes digital, energy-efficient, and climate-friendly. Whether cavity, screed insulation, or room drying – the system uses up to 35% less energy than conventional methods, significantly reducing energy costs* and CO₂ footprint. Over 1,000 successful projects demonstrate the technology’s practical value.

SRF process

The SRF process is a water-free – and therefore particularly resource-saving – eco-friendly alternative to chemical cleaning of walls, ceilings, and wooden surfaces. It gently removes soot and other heavy contamination without leaving residues. SRF binds pollutants, protects materials from penetration by contaminants, and generates only minimal waste – maximizing material and environmental protection while saving significant amounts of water.

Smart Mobility

With Smart Mobility, BELFOR optimizes its operational logistics through an AI-powered system. This selects the most eco-friendly route for each job, reducing mileage, saving fuel, and lowering emissions – enabling more sustainable and efficient restoration operations.

More than “just” ecological sustainability

We are also aware of our responsibility to society as a whole and to our employees in particular. That’s why our commitment does not end with climate and environmental protection. We also aim to act economically sustainably, ensuring long-term job security through sound business practices. In addition, we are committed to complying with the law and local regulations in all markets in which we operate. These are just two examples of our clear commitment to our responsibility as a global company.
