BELFOR Cars and Trucks lined up at an emergency response

Sustainability is in our DNA

At BELFOR Canada, we are dedicated to balancing the needs of our customers with our responsibility to protect people and the planet. As the global leader in disaster recovery and property restoration, we recognize the environmental impact of our industry and actively implement strategies to minimize our carbon footprint while promoting sustainability across our operations.

Near-term GHG Reduction Targets validated by the SBTi

BELFOR Canada has recently had its near-term emissions reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi is a collaboration between Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The SBTi defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting and independently assesses companies’ emissions reduction targets.

Good Today, Even Better Tomorrow

BELFOR Canada has committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year, to ensuring that 67% of our suppliers set science-based targets by 2029, and to reducing absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from energy use, waste, business travel, and commuting by 42% over the same period.

Efficiency in Motion and Action

BELFOR Canada takes a comprehensive approach to sustainability by optimizing our fleet size, introducing BrightDrop electric vans and hybrid vehicles to replace inefficient gas vehicles, and leveraging GPS technology to cut emissions. We minimize waste through material recycling and donations, as well as partnerships that promote reuse, while prioritizing eco-friendly cleaning solutions like botanical disinfectants to protect waterways. BELFOR Canada also takes innovative approaches at the job-site level that focus on waste reduction, for instance by employing dry-in-place methods to reduce waste disposal in water losses, wherever possible.

In our facilities and projects, we implement energy-efficient HVAC systems, lighting, and appliances, conserve water, and promote green building practices through LEED-trained Project Managers and active membership in the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC).

Rooted in Responsibility

In addition to reducing our footprint, BELFOR Canada is investing in positive environmental impact initiatives. Through our Treedom Canada forest, we are planting trees that absorb CO₂, restore ecosystems, and provide long-term social and environmental benefits. This initiative reflects our belief that sustainability means not only reducing harm but also creating lasting improvements for the communities and environments we serve.

Sustainability Is a Shared Responsibility

At BELFOR Canada, sustainability is more than a business goal—it’s part of our culture. Guided by our Corporate Social Responsibility Director, we embed leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement into every aspect of our operations. From SBTi-aligned emissions targets to fleet electrification, energy efficiency, and reforestation through Treedom, our initiatives are designed to reduce impact and protect ecosystems. To strengthen this commitment, we offer free sustainability training to share knowledge and foster collaboration across the industry—because creating a sustainable future is a responsibility we all share.
