BELFOR Receives Prestigious 2012 RIA Phoenix Award
The Restoration Industry Association (RIA) has presented BELFOR with its highest honor -- the prestigious 2012 Phoenix Award for Innovation in Reconstruction. The annual award recognizes high achievement in the area of disaster restoration.
BELFOR received the award and was recognized for its restoration work on the UGI Corporation and AmeriGas Partners LP headquarters in King of Prussia, PA. The five-story, 100-square-foot building was extensively damaged by an electrical fire.
BELFOR mobilized local and nation team members to clean, preserve contents, and perform selective demolition in preparation for the rebuilding process. UGI saw the opportunity to update the 38-year-old building and remodel their headquarters, and as an energy company, they wanted the new building to be sustainable and green-compliant. BELFOR worked with UGI to remodel the building, which included expanding the first floor, while protecting the interior space. BELFOR also worked with UGI’s LEED architect to document conservation practices such as using recycled products and Forest Certified Stewardship (FSC) wood.
